Due to the ongoing resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic for the last two years, our festival celebrations were cancelled multiple times due to switching alert levels. This year, however, as the restriction guidelines have finally eased, we were excited to plan for our first festival celebration Teej 2022 with the wider community members and it was surely a great comeback!
On 27th August 2022, New Zealand Nepal Society hosted the annual Teej celebration at Freemans Bay Community Centre. The event comprised of various cultural performances, and it was great to see the range of age groups participating this year. The three young ladies hosting the event made it engaging for the audience with interesting Quiz games throughout the program with prizes for the winners!
It was a joy to see our ladies enjoying the floor dance with the colourful traditional wear, great way to wrap up the night!
Overall, the event was seamless, and one fun-filled evening which wouldn’t have come together smoothly without the generous support of dedicated members of the organization and several volunteers who contributed to making this event successful.
